Heritage Halal Market is a family-owned butcher and grocery shop in the heart of East Atlanta — built on legacy, faith, and community.
For over 32 years, this space was known as AlMadina Market. In 2022, the opportunity to continue that legacy came to us unexpectedly. Within 30 days of learning about it, we made the decision, completed the purchase, and stepped in to run the business — all without ever closing the doors. We were learning as we went, committed to honoring what came before us while shaping something new for the future.
Our professional backgrounds aren’t in grocery: Musa is an engineering director in the payments industry, and Summiyah comes from marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. Our only food-service experience was selling organic bean pies at the East Atlanta Farmers Market. What we did have was purpose — a commitment to serving our community and offering high-quality, culturally relevant halal food.
Heritage Halal is truly a family effort. Our parents help in the store, and our children support whenever they’re home from college. Nearly everything you see reflects our family’s hands, time, and intention.
Today, we offer fresh halal meats cut in-house, handcrafted sandwiches, beef bacon, pantry staples, produce, halal snacks, and local favorites — along with online ordering, local delivery, and in-store pickup.
